The initial project phase of the Lawai International Center focused on the purchase of 32 acres in the Lawai Valley that was once the site of a Hawaiian heiau, a Taoist temple, a Shinto shrine, and a Shingon Buddhist temple. The construction of the Pavilion of Compassion will be in the same site as the original and will be built by master artisans in the traditional Japanese style and method, using the customary materials. |
